Jumbo! That’s the first exciting thing about this cage free egg. Jumbo eggs are more difficult to produce and therefore are not as common as large or extra large. But the interest for the jumbo egg runs strong, especially in inner-city stores. And comparing it to the large or extra large, it is usually the better buy.
This plastic, see-through carton holds another appeal for the consumer; they can see the product they are about to purchase. The retailer looses fewer eggs from breakage because the customer does not need to open each carton to examine the eggs before they purchase them.
A third point to consider is that this plastic carton is the tri-fold type which holds the eggs in a proper position away from any of its nearby neighbors. Any way you turn the carton, the eggs cannot make contact with each other. This certainly reduces breakage during transit to the store, packing the items onto the shelf and during the customer handling process. After paying for a dozen at the checkout, customers like to be able to place 12 eggs into their refrigerator instead of only having eleven left and later finding another two were cracked.
Furthermore, the individual cell where the egg is placed to travel has been made a little larger to accommodate the larger jumbo eggs which can tend to be too crowded in some of the earlier Jumbo plastic cartons. While the jumbo egg is usually thinner shelled than a medium or large, this increased size enables the shell to maintain it's pack of nutrients until the chef is ready for the ingredients to flow into his pans.
As with all of our products, these eggs are from cage free hens. They are free to move about in large buildings and to fly up to roosts to sleep at night. They hop into nesting boxes where they like to lay their eggs in the secluded, shaded nests as they would do in the large out-of-doors environment. And then after a hen has laid her egg, she begins her loud cackle. You can now enjoy a delicious omelet a few mornings later! Fresh eggs from cage free, veggie fed hens!
This carton is differentiated from its sister carton of large cage free brown eggs by the enlargement of JUMBO on the top of the carton. Our theme color of green for the cage free brown eggs has been slightly altered but yet the base colors still connect it to the family.
Give this item strong consideration. The case pack of 12 enables better rotation. Large supermarkets will want to order multiple cases while this lesser amount is super for the small grocer who only sells a few dozen a week.
